Broadway Academy and Education

“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning”, Plato once wrote.

At Broadway Academy, we hold the same belief and strive to cultivate young minds through performing arts. The classes that we provide, namely Show Choir, Drama, and Broadway Dancing, stimulate children’s artistic senses and guide them to express themselves using theatrical methods. We encourage them to think outside the box and exercise their creativity on stage, which will allow them to open their minds to the possibility and wonders of performing arts. And with the rhythms and songs of the theatre world imbued in them, children are better suited to keep up with the pace of the society around them as the lessons here help them to learn in their own ways.

We also advocate the same values in the workshops and camps that we conduct. In the recent SPARKS Show Choir Camp that Broadway Academy organized, the participants received lessons on vocal techniques, proper breathing methods, incorporating dance moves to the beat of the songs, the essence of singing in an ensemble, and the art of performing as a choir. Music technicalities aside, the camp saw to it that the participants were equipped with the knowledge and ability of learning smart. It was a belief of Plato that children should be taught in ways that amuse them and induce fun to help them pick things up faster.

Our theatrical games highlighted the importance of interaction between the students on and off stage as that strengthened not only their social skills, but also their ensemble sense.  This is a crucial tool as they will be required to engage in many forms of group work throughout their school and work life.

The SPARKS Show Choir Camp, as well as the other classes we offer, aimed to educate its participants in the relationship between performing arts and other fields, and encourage them to apply the lessons learned in their daily lives.

And Broadway Academy is appreciative of the support that we have received. In relation to this, we are glad to share with you an article written by the REAL International School, regarding one of its students from the Suria campus, who participated in the SPARKS Show Choir Camp: http://realschools.edu.my/news_details.php?news_id=70&id=46

Broadway Academy enjoys educating children and adults alike in performing arts, and hopes to establish this field in the bubbling cauldron of Malaysian cultures.
